2009 Polaris Ranger RZR S Review |
|
Nov 25, 2008 - 10:38 AM - by administrator
|
After first laying eyes on the 2009 Polaris Ranger RZR S in June, it’s hard to quantify exactly how much we wanted to take it for a ride.
We spent a little time behind the wheel at Polaris' press intro in the Minnesota woods in June, but tight, wooded trails are not the natural environment for this super sporty side-by-side. With its powerful engine, beefed up suspension and wider footprint, the RZR S demands to be driven fast and aggressively with ample opportunity to mash the pedal to the floor.
Polaris district sales manager Mike Carr suggested we head to Reno, Nev. and ride at Moon Rocks.... [Read More]

2008 KTM XC 450 Review |
|
Nov 25, 2008 - 10:36 AM - by administrator
|
Competition in ATV racing today is fierce, particularly in the trails of the Grand National Cross Country tour.
Few manufacturers understand this better than a relative newcomer to the ATV scene – orange-clad, Austrian-based KTM. Factory KTM GNCC racer Adam McGill proved the company's 'Ready to Race' slogan by finishing third overall in this year's series on his KTM 525 XC. His teammate, Taylor Kiser, was close behind with a sixth overall in the 2008 pro class.
Both riders accomplished this feat in their first year on a first-year machine designed specifically for cross country... [Read More]

2009 Can-Am Outlander 400 EFI Review |
|
Jun 19, 2008 - 4:07 PM - by administrator
|
Can-Am, a new name that takes its origin from a vintage dirt bike that turned heads in the 1970s, is a company dedicated to racing. This direction, though, doesn't stop it from recognizing that the utility market is bigger than the racing one and probably always will be. That’s where the Outlander series of ATVs comes in.
Can-Am's entry-level utility quad is the Outlander 400 EFI. It is powered by a 400cc Rotax V-twin engine, which the company claims is the most powerful in its class. The engine is electronically fuel injected, which means there is no choke and starting is aided by a... [Read More]

Suzuki has redesigned its race-bred QuadSport Z400 for 2009 with several features from its big brother, the QuadRacer LT-R450.
Key among the new features is Suzuki’s fuel-injection system, which has a 36mm throttle body and a 12-hole injector.
Also new is the Engine Control Unit, equipped with a 16-bit CPU and a 96-kilobyte ROM unit. According to Suzuki, the system is programmed to offer improved traction, by selecting the optimum injection volume, injection timing and ignition timing based on throttle position, engine rpm and other data.

ITP debuts low-profile Terracross R/T |
|
Jun 19, 2008 - 4:03 PM - by administrator
|
International Tire Products (ITP) of Ontario, Calif. has just released two new TerraCross R/T sizes designed for better sport-oriented performance.
Now available in a 25x9R-14 front and a 25x10R-14 rear, this new sizing results in an extra-low profile with less sidewall flex for precise steering and exceptional control.
According to ITP, these new sizes offer significantly better handling and are lighter than current 26-inch options. The company says the tires also reduce horsepower losses and allow the operator to retain OEM gearing characteristics.
